In seasons 1-8, the shippers bid on two shipments that are listed on uShip in a reverse auction format. Bids are generally accompanied by remarks about the probable costs and potential risks and the motives and abilities. When the time limit for an auction runs out it is generally given to the bidder with the lowest price and at the discretion of the client however, it can be given to a bidder who has a higher average feedback rating from past customers. Feedback ratings can be used to break ties for the lowest bid. In season 9, shippers collect their loads from a shipping broker, and the bidding process isn't shown.Winners load their cargo and try to get it delivered in a timely manner within the receiver's or client's deadline. Once the loads have been delivered, the feedback ratings are provided by clients. The show concludes with each shipper's earnings and expenses. The amount of the bid is subtracted to calculate the total loss and profit. Sometimes, shippers will offer to carry additional loads as part of the same trip. This extra amount is added into their total. The shipper may not be able to finish the job due to safety or load size. Sometimes, one shipper may enlist the help of a third party to complete the job. The two shippers then have to decide what to do with the proceeds. The progression of each shipment can be interrupted by humorous criticisms from other shippers during seasons 1-8.
