Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She was co-founder of The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an writer of 15 novels. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist as well as a TV host and owner of the independent liberal online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Born in Greece Arianna Huffington emigrated to England along with her family members at the age of 16. At Cambridge University she earned a MA diploma in Economics. In her 21st year, she was the president of the famous debating club The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign student to do so. She became a conservative syndicated author after her graduation and when The Huffington Post launched a few years later, she developed an online voice platform that gave criticisms of the political landscape. It was her celebrity that helped to attract several well-known contributors to share their views on politics, news and the arts. Arianna rose to fame when she made the decision to stand as independently in the California recall election to replace Governor Davis. Additionally, she was the leader of an Detroit initiative to encourage fuel efficient cars. She was ranked 12th in Forbes's list of the most influential women in the media. That same year, Guardian listed her among the top 100 media personalities. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her president of the media group and also owned other AOL properties like Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and management consultant Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. They were very close to her father, but it was the relationship she had with her mother who shaped her. Even during her formative years, she exhibited abilities to lead, and for this she remains well-known. After the 16th year of her life she began her study in her native United Kingdom at Girton College Cambridge. In her college years she joined Cambridge Union. Cambridge Union debating group where she went on to become the first female and only foreign president. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned a Master's Degree in Economics. Following her graduation, she was employed as a columnist and critic and as a host on television. She also appeared along with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started writing books using his assistance in editing.
